District Photography Competition 2008

 

 

Do you think you can take photographs that catch someones eye.

 

If you are a member of Darlington & District Scouting try entering the District Photography Competition 2008.

 

It couldn't be simpler............ just read below.

 

 

Entries can come from any members of Darlington & District Scouting.

 

Photographs can be taken anytime from the start of 2008 through to the closing date of Saturday 11th October 2008 at 12 noon.

 

To fit in with it being a Scouting photography competition the subjects that can be entered are:

 

   Action and Adventure     • Fun and Friends     • The Great Outdoors

 

Each of these can be entered in 4 age ranges: (AGE AT TIME PHOTO WAS TAKEN)

 

    • under 10½     • 10 ½ to 14th birthday     • 14th birthday to 18th birthday     • 18 and over

 

An entrant can enter a maximum of five entries per category.

 

Prints from film cameras can be provided up to the size of 7” x 5” (178mm x 122mm).

 

Photos from digital cameras must be printed out on paper up to A5 size (210mm x 148mm).

 

You may use image enhancement and manipulation to optimise an entry into the competition, although you are not allowed to add or remove significant elements. To clarify:

  •  Adjustments to colour, contrast, saturation, levels and curves and sharpening are expected.

  •  Cropping is allowed.

  •  Addition or duplicating of elements is not allowed.

 

Entries will be displayed in the District Scout Centre after the competition.

 

Entries must be sent to Ken Dunne ADC(Scouts) before the closing date shown.

 

Each entry must be accompanied by the following information:

  •  Name

  •  Age range – WHEN PHOTO WAS TAKEN

  •  Contact address and telephone number, plus e-mail address if available

  •  Details of involvement in Scouting

  •  Where and when the picture was taken

  •  Description of the event or activity shown

  •  The subject group it is being entered for.

  •  A panel will judge the entries.

 

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT FOR CHILD PROTECTION PURPOSES YOU SHOULD HAVE PARENTAL PERMISSION BEFORE ENTERING ANY PHOTOGRAPHS SHOWING YOUNG PEOPLE
