Getting To Know You Weekend 2

Thornthwaite, Nidderdale, North Yorkshire

  

  

For the second of our weekends for those going to Kandersteg, we used Harrogate District Scout’s campsite at Thornthwaite.

  

The site is in Nidderdale between Pateley Bridge and Harrogate.

  

The campsite has a purpose built 2 storey accommodation building with lots of space, located in the middle of woodland. The centre is equipped for 40 people, and is fitted with central heating, making it suitable for all year round use. The accommodation comprises various bunkrooms, toilets and showers, dining room, kitchen and large activity area.

With Scouts and Explorers from a number of different Groups going along on the trip, we like to get them together a few times beforehand. This is better that throwing a group of people together for 2 weeks who have not met before.

These weekend are also useful to get the young peoples input into the planning of the trip.
